12 Drinks of Christmas 2012 – Drink 6

Drink 6 of the 12 Drinks of Christmas is our first ever non-alcoholic drink review, LeFou’s Brew from Gaston’s Tavern in the new Fantasyland section of the Magic Kingdom.  This might seem like an odd drink to include here on Drinking Disney, but we have been asked before if we were going to cover non-alcoholic beverages at the park, and this seemed like a good choice to do just that.

LeFou’s Brew is advertised as “frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow, topped with all-natural passion fruit-mango foam.”   Obviously, this stuff is geared towards kids, but  from the “stein” it’s served in, to the golden color, to the foam on top, it was made to look like a beer with a foam head.    But it’s not beer, and sadly, it’s not even butter beer.

The beverage tasted like, and had a consistency similar to, frozen apple sauce.   The foam on top had a bit of tartness to it, but we didn’t find that it added much to the beverage itself.  Overall, LeFou’s Brew wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t very interesting.  That being said, my companion said it did go well with pork shank served at Gaston’s Tavern.

One final, nitpicky thought…it bothers me Beast is on one side of the cup, and Gaston on the other.   It’s Gaston’s Tavern, and it’s his sidekick’s brew.  Maybe they wouldn’t sell enough cups with just Gaston on them, I don’t know.  But it just seems wrong to put the Beast on there with Gaston, and I don’t like it.

Starting tomorrow, we’ll stop by Splitsville at Downtown Disney to try some of their signature drinks.
