Beers of the World – Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale

Today’s Beer of the World is Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale by the Samuel Smith Old Brewery, Tadcaster, New Yorkshire, England.   You can find this beer at the ESPN Club at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort.

The website for the Samuel Smith Old Brewery is definitely low tech, but everything you need to know about the brewery and its beers, including the Nut Brown Ale,  can be found there.  Also, there is contact information for couples interested in managing one of their pubs which certainly sounds like a dream job for someone.

Here’s what they have to say about the Nut Brown Ale:

Brewed with well water (the original well at the Old Brewery, sunk in 1758, is still in use, with the hard well water being drawn from 85 feet underground); best barley malt, yeast and aromatic hops; fermented in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ to create a relatively dry ale with rich nutty colour and palate of beech nuts, almonds and walnuts.

Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale gets glowing remarks from the folks at Beer Advocate, with a score of 100 and a “World Class” rating, as well as its readers, who gave it an aggregate score of 91 and an “Exceptional” rating.    Sounds like another excellent option for those visiting the ESPN Club.
