Today’s Beer of the World is Birra Moretti, brewed in Udine, Italy, by the company Birra Moretti, a Heineken subsidiary. You can find this beer at the Italy Pavillion at Epcot as well as a few restaurant locations on property that serve Italian food, such as Mama Melrose at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Portobello at Downtown Disney.
From the Birra Moretti website:
Birra Moretti is a quality beer made in the traditional way. It is the result of a production process that has remained almost unchanged since 1859. The best raw materials are used to make Birra Moretti, as well as a special blend of high quality hops that gives it a unique taste and fragrance, enhancing its perfectly balanced bitter taste.
The Birra Moretti website also shares its origin story and the story behind its iconic “Mustache Man” label. It’s worth a read if you’re interested in that sort of thing.
This beer has an average ABV of 4.6%, and both Beer Advocate and its readers give this beer an “Average” rating, with scores of 75 and 70, respectively. While not terrible marks, it’s of note that the other Birra Moretti beer served at the Italy Pavillion, La Rossa, received higher scores and a “Good” rating. La Rossa is a double malt and a lot stronger though, so you might want to keep that in mind when deciding between the two.
