Christmas Eve dinner reservations took us to Raglan Road. Great food there. The drink menu made it difficult for me to choose, so I ended up having two Drinks of Christmas there.
The first was the Very Berry Blueberry Martini. Technically, it isn’t a martini. There was no gin or vermouth to be had in this drink. It was Smirnoff Blueberry Vodka, Chambord, Triple Sec and cranberry juice. It also wasn’t served in a traditional martini glass, but it doesn’t matter what they want to call it or what they want to serve it in. It’s the taste that counts.
This drink was interesting. When I first tasted it, I didn’t immediately like it. It was a little “odd,” for lack of a better word. But after having a couple sips of it, it grew on me. It was indeed very berry blueberry. The blueberry vodka taste came come through much more than any other flavor, which was interesting to me because with the Chambord and cranberry in there, I would have thought those to be a little more prevalent in the taste than the flavored vodka. The Triple Sec in it wasn’t noticeable at all to me. My drinking companion agreed that while a little “different”, it was still a good drink.
As I said, I had two Drinks of Christmas at Raglan Road, and of the two, I like the 8th Drink of Christmas better than this one. But I can see myself having another one of these from time to time.
