Merry Christmas everyone! You know what that means…time for the first drink of Christmas! The 12 days of Christmas run from December 25th to January 5th, as will the 12 Drinks of Christmas.
As I write this, we still have four drinks to go. We knocked out five on the first day we were here, and three the second. I am sure there would have been at least a couple more on day two if we hadn’t been caught up in the Great Tree Box Caper of 2011, but what can you do.
My original plan was to do these in random order because I had wanted to do Santa’s Little Helper on Christmas and I knew we would not get to the Crew’s Cup Lounge first. But my drinking companion insists that they be listed in the order we drank them, so we’ll start with this drink from one of my favorite spots at Walt Disney World, La Cava del Tequila at the Mexico Pavillion in Epcot.
For the first drink of Christmas, we decided that since pomegranate is a winter fruit, the Partida Pomegranate Margarita seemed like the obvious choice. (Sure it’s 77 degrees outside, but technically it’s still winter.)
This on-the-rocks margarita is made up of Partida premium silver Tequila, mixed with Combier orange liqueur, agave nectar, pomegranate liqueur, pineapple and lime juice served with a hibiscus Himalayan salt rim. The margarita was sweet, but not too sweet, and the fruit flavors meshed well. It was a good margarita choice for the holiday season and a great way to kick off the 12 Drinks of Christmas.
Tomorrow we’ll continue around World Showcase to find the second drink of Christmas, one I never even noticed before!
