Beers of the World – Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss

Today’s Beer of the World is Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss from the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.  This beer is found at the ESPN Club at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort.

The website for the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company plays up an “outdoorsy” theme and includes a history of the Leinkugel family, the brewery, and even Chippewa Falls.  If you’re in the neighborhood, you can check out the “Leinie Lodge” to set up a brewery tour.   They also have an extensive shop, which once again includes beer lip balm.    (No beer brittle this time though.)

Here’s what they have to say about the Berry Weiss:

Brewed with Pale and Wheat malt and an enticing blend of blackberries, elderberries and loganberries that are all indigenous to Wisconsin, Berry Weiss is deliciously different.

This fruit beer has an average ABV of 4.70 %.  The folks at Beer Advocate have not given it a try yet but it does have 328 user reviews who have given it an aggregate score of 69, qualifying it for a “Poor” rating.  Generally speaking, fruit beers are not my thing, and the poor reviews don’t help the situation any.   With so many other beers available at the ESPN Club, I would pass on this one.

  1. Meh, I drank this at the Food & Wine Festival last year at one of the beer kiosks and we hated it. It was like carbonated Hawaiian Punch!
